Cumulocity IoT 10.1

Cumulocity IoT handles device connectivity, integration and management.

The platform offers the most complete feature set, most flexible deployment options supporting global cloud, on-premises, edge and multi-layered hybrid models, all based on an open environment with free trials, public APIs and free developer resources.

New features:

Cumulocity can interface with LoRa devices through Actility® ThingPark® Wireless. With new features, you can:

  • Provision and deprovision LoRa devices easily using the Cumulocity device management—no interaction in the ThingPark user interface is required
  • Decode upstream payload packets using a web-based user interface
  • Debug and post-process raw device data through Cumulocity events
  • Send downstream data to the device using Cumulocity operations
  • Make use of existing Cumulocity features with LoRa devices, for example: connectivity monitoring, device management, data visualization with dashboards, real-time analytics and more (please note, you have to be subscribed to this feature in order to use it)

Data broker:

Cumulocity Data Broker features include:

  • Cumulocity provides two (complementing) alternatives for multi-tenancy: 100% data segregation with Cumulocity tenants and (traditional) role based access control
  • If 100% data segregation is used, selected data can be shared with Data Broker in an explicit, bidireactional and mutually agreed approach
  • Additionally, Cumulocity Edge uses Data Broker for its cloud connection

Cumulocity Data Broker features include:

  • Bidirectional data processing between tenants:
    • Selection and filtering
    • Forwarding inventory/alarms/measurements/events
    • Receiving of operations for device control
  • Trustable
    • Explicit documentation of forwarding and receiving
    • Mutually agreement by both involved tenants
  • Tenants can be hosted in same or different Cumulocity instance
  • Configurable by power users using UI of administration app

Administration improvements:

The “Administration” user interface was improved in various places. The most important changes are:
  • Files repository view has been updated; additionally a new preview button has been added
  • The “Data Broker” view has been improved
Request rate limiting can be applied to tenants. Values are provided during tenant creation or in the tenant custom properties. When there is no limit on tenant level, the limit feature is considered as disabled for the tenant and access is not limited. There are four fields that can be configured:
  • Limit HTTP requests - limit of http requests for tenant per second
  • Limit HTTP queue - limit of http request queue for tenant
  • Limit stream requests - limit of MQTT requests for tenant per second
  • Limit stream queue - limit of MQTT request queue for tenant
Documentation improvements:
  • Real-time notifications reference guide has been updated
  • Broken links in the cockpit user guide have been fixed
  • Smartrest templates have been added to the device management user guide
Cockpit improvements:
Scheduled CSV and Microsoft® Excel® reports can now be sent via email.
  • Users can define a schedule at which CSV/Excel reports configured by the reports feature in cockpit are sent to their email address
  • You can add schedules once your report configuration has been saved
  • The configuration options are the same as “Send dashboard as email” smart rule
Additional improvements:
  • Users are no longer able to delete/update tenant managed objects via inventory API
  • The length of device credentials is now configurable in the system configuration properties file
Integration with webMethods Integration Cloud:
