# What is Needed if Adabas is running on UNIX

What components of CONNX is needed to access an ADABAS DB sitting on a Linux platform? Do I need both the JDBC component and the ADABAS SQL Gateway component if:

1. My JDBC component is running on a Windows machine
2. My JDBC component is running on the same Linux machine

You always need both the JDBC server and the Data Server, no matter where Adabas resides.
