The general availability date for JOPAZ 2.1 will be October 30, 2026.
Your COBOL applications have reliably powered the most critical operations of your enterprise for decades. Unique to your business, they are among your most valuable assets. Today, your success demands these applications process ever-increasing workloads. As batch processing consumes more General Processor resources, you may have less room for new and growing workloads. What if you could reclaim the capacity to support what’s next?
Free up GP Capacity
With JOPAZ, you can optimize COBOL workloads to free up capacity without disrupting business operations.
Don’t risk compromising your business — keep what works. Create space to grow and innovate by dramatically reducing COBOL batch workloads running on the general processor by over 80%. While achieving that, you keep the functional equivalence, keep COBOL behavior and ensure business continuity.

JOPAZ now supports Java 17 and Java 21. This keeps you on a supported Java release, eliminating end-of-life security risk while gaining better performance and a future-proof runtime. Please note that support for Java 8 ends in October 2027.
Support for IBM MQ
JOPAZ supports IBM MQ Series, letting you plug the product into your existing MQ backbone for reliable, guaranteed-delivery messaging and reuse the integration patterns your teams already know.
Support for IBM TLS
With support for TLS v1.2, communication between a JOPAZ runtime on IBM z/OS and an IBM Db2 database is secured. Data is encrypted in transit, helping you meet audit and compliance requirements, without an application change.
Extended IBM Db2 support
JOPAZ now supports multiple Db2 installations at runtime, along with static mode binding. The result is greater deployment flexibility, plus predictable performance and stable access paths through static binding.
Introduction of the JOPAZ Batch Server
Performance improves by avoiding a Java JVM start-up for each batch program, using a stand-by address space for JOPAZ. Batch runs faster and CPU cost drops because the JVM start-up per program is skipped. Non-user abends are also enabled.
Improved Installation
Installation kit and fix installation are accelerated and simplified, so you can install JOPAZ and apply fixes faster, with less effort and downtime — easing the load on mainframe teams.
